Education funding vital for workforce, banking chief says

Eric S. Rosengren, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, today urged higher education leaders and policy makers to consider improving financial aid to low income and minority students, in remarks at a meeting of the New England Board of Higher Education. Asians, for example, have been particularly successful in obtaining college degrees, Rosengren said, while African-Americans and Hispanics are lagging significantly in attainment. Without degrees, their lifetime earnings will likely suffer significantly.
