Six years ago, the Vermont resort lost half a million dollars. Now, signs of improvement are abundant.
Chairlifts had a reputation for being unreliable, but the main lift has been repaired. A second lift, idle for three years, is running again.
The turnaround has been fueled by tight-knit community of Magic skiers, 252 of whom have plunked down $3,000 apiece to become shareholders.
Volunteers have been active in the restoration, even painting chairlifts at the 200-acre ski area.
Volunteers have been rewarded with an expansion of off-trail skiing trails, to 60 acres.
