Delta may seek to grow again, report says

AMR Corp. has lost more than $11 billion since 2001.

Delta Air Lines Inc. rose after The Wall Street Journal said Delta and TPG Capital were considering whether to make separate bids for the parent of American Airlines, AMR Corp., which is in the early stages of bankruptcy reorganization. Three big airline mergers have occurred since 2008, including Delta’s buying Northwest. AMR’s new chief executive has said he wants an independent American.
