Cambridge Health Alliance selects new CEO

The board of trustees at Cambridge Health Alliance said that Patrick Wardell has been selected as its new chief executive. Wardell’s appointment is contingent on contract negotiations. The alliance operates three public hospitals --- Cambridge Hospital, Somerville Hospital, and Whidden Hospital in Everett. Wardell replaces Dennis Keefe, who resigned in July to become CEO of Care New England, in Rhode Island. Wardell currently heads Hurley Medical Center, a 463-bed teaching hospital in Flint, Mich.
