MILFORD -- Shares of Waters Corp. jumped today after the scientific instrument maker posted fourth-quarter net income that rose 8.3 percent and beat Wall Street expectations.
Waters said it earned $137.1 million, or $1.51 per share, in the three months that ended Dec. 31. That’s up from a profit of $126.6 million, or $1.36 per share, a year earlier.
Revenue rose 8 percent to $521.4 million.
Excluding one-time items, Waters earned $1.56 per share, above the $1.50 per share expected by analysts. They expected revenue of $517.9 million, according to FactSet.
Waters’ shares jumped $4.39, or 5.6 percent, to $83.15 in morning trading.
