Joslin taps $10.8m to target diabetes cure

Some of the money coming from Massachusetts Life Sciences Center

Joslin Diabetes Center said it will use $10.5 million, the largest capital infusion in the Harvard teaching hospital’s 113-year-history, to create a Translational Center for the Cure of Diabetes at Joslin’s campus in Boston’s Longwood Medical Area. The new center will include renovated lab space, a biobank that stores tissue samples to track how the diabetes changes over time, a teleopthalmology center that studies eye disease related to diabetes, a metabolic kitchen where Joslin can teach patients how to cook and eat, and an exercise research lab to study the effects of exercise.
