Comcast launches “Hire a Veteran” service

Comcast Corporation today launched “Hire A Veteran On Demand,” which aims to connect returning soldiers to jobs to help ease their transition back into civilian life. The pilot program, which posts video profiles of returning soldiers who are looking for work, will be available for the next 90 days for prospective hiring managers and recruiters to review for their employment needs.

The veterans were chosen by Department of Veterans Services and the profiles were taped by Comcast’s Video Production and Services team.  Interested hiring managers or recruiters can contact individual candidates by getting in touch with the Department of Veteran services via email as noted at the end of each segment.

Massachusetts Secretary of Veteran’s Services Coleman Nee applauded the new service, saying in a release that, “with thousands of new veterans returning to Massachusetts from military service, joining the almost 37,000 that have already returned since September 11, 2001, the Commonwealth’s employers have a fantastic opportunity to utilize the outstanding skills and dedication of these men and women to build their businesses with outstanding new employees.”

Comcast customers in Massachusetts can access the service by selecting the “Get Local” category from the On Demand menu, then choosing “Hire A Veteran.”
