Western Union says it won’t deliver on profit

Western Union Co. slumped 10 percent for the biggest retreat in the S&P 500. The Englewood, Colo., company, the world’s largest money-transfer business, forecast that earnings in 2012 will be no more than $1.75 a share. That would be significantly less than the average analyst estimate of $1.81. In 2011, Western Union completed 226 million consumer-to-consumer transactions, its website says.
