Indexes higher on US jobless filings, Greece

Stocks advanced on the heels of upbeat economic reports and optimism that EU officials may soon OK a second bailout for Greece. The Labor Department said weekly applications for unemployment benefits dropped to the lowest point since March 2008, raising expectations of more hiring gains. Adding to the good news was a rise in January building permits.
