Ascena, formerly The Dress Barn, rose, advancing to $43 earlier, its highest intraday since at least 1985. The women’s apparel retailer forecast profit this year ending in July of at least $2.75 to $2.80 per share, well above expectations of $2.62. That’s up from its previous guidance of $2.60 to $2.70. Ascena, which also operates the Maurices and Justice chains, said second-quarter profit rose 50 percent.
