Boeing 787 Dreamliner will start its US run at Logan

The fuel-efficient Dreamliner is making it feasible for airlines to try new long-haul flights. For Boeing, there’s a lot riding on the plane’s inaugural US route, Boston-to-Tokyo.

The long-awaited 787 Dreamliner, which Japan Airlines starts flying next month between Boston and Tokyo - the 787’s first US route - is the reason passengers will be able to fly nonstop from Logan International Airport to Asia for the first time. Made of durable, lightweight carbon composites and powered by electric engines, the 787 is the most fuel efficient plane of its size.
