5 Channel Center being transformed into exemplar of green technologies’ promise

The research nonprofit Fraunhofer CSE is turning a 100-year-old warehouse in Boston’s Innovation District into a living laboratory of the world’s newest clean-energy products, from windows that double as solar panels to interior walls that can absorb and store heat. The $22 million project will include a public exhibit explaining how the technologies function and how much energy is being saved. The firm plans to move into the building by the end year.
