Clergy calling for boycott of OneUnited Bank

Decry church foreclosure

A group of local religious leaders gathered Thursday outside the OneUnited Bank branch in Grove Hall to urge customers to withdraw their funds because the bank is planning to foreclose on the nearby Charles Street African Methodist Episcopal Church in Roxbury. The Rev. Eugene Rivers, a community activist and a leader of the boycott, said, “We are here today with much regret and a heavy heart,’’ and urged black customers and others to “withdraw every dime’’ from the bank.
