First Wind gets $236m for project

Boston wind farm developer First Wind has received $236 million in financing to build what would become the largest wind energy project in Hawaii, the company said Tuesday. First Wind has already started building the project on land owned by the Kamehaeha Schools in Oahu, and the wind farm’s 30 turbines are expected to be up and running by the end of this year. When done, the wind farm will have the capacity to generate 69 megawatts of power, enough to power approximately 14,500 homes
