General Catalyst Partners, a venture capital firm with offices in Cambridge and Palo Alto, Calif., announced Monday that Kevin Colleran, an early employee at Facebook, is joining the firm as a venture partner.
At Facebook, Colleran was the second-most tenured employee at the time of his departure behind founder and chief executive Mark Zuckerberg, General Catalyst Partners said.
Colleran developed the initial advertising programs for the social network. During his Facebook tenure, Colleran led some of the company’s largest advertising partnerships with the likes of Procter & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, and Coca Cola. His focus was to help these brands learn how to adapt their marketing strategies to social media, General Catalyst Partners said.
In his new role at General Catalyst, Colleran will focus on mentoring young entrepreneurs in early stage investments.
