Losses tied to Madoff won’t alter divorce pact

New York’s highest court ruled Tuesday that a man who had lost his settlement proceeds in Bernard L. Madoff’s Ponzi scheme would not get a do-over on his divorce agreement. The unanimous decision from the New York Court of Appeals overturned a lower court ruling that had allowed Steven Simkin, a real estate lawyer at a powerful Manhattan firm, to sue his ex-wife, Laura Blank, also a lawyer, to alter the terms of their divorce pact.
