Small businesses tout innovation

There is no cash award, or grand prize package, just a wall plaque. But this year the number of businesses competing in the Smaller Business Association of New England’s innovation contest has reached an all-time high, with more than 250 companies competing. The boon represents nearly a 50 percent increase in participation, even though association president Robert Baker said the association did not take extra steps to promote this year’s contest.
