Partners in talks with Hallmark Health

Partners Healthcare Systems has stayed on the sidelines during the early innings of the hospital merger and acquisition binge in Massachusetts. The nonprofit giant was already seen as too big and powerful to win state permission for further expansion. But the rules may be changing. Partners, already at the center of several potential health care deals, is now in talks with Hallmark Health System about yet another possible combination. Hallmark operates hospitals in Melrose and Medford, as well as other outpatient facilities.
