Microsoft plans Boston retail store

New lab in NYC will be run from Cambridge

West Coast software giant Microsoft Corp. is boosting its East Coast presence. The company, based in Redmond, Wash., opened a research facility in New York City, which will be run from its Cambridge research center, and plans to open a retail store in The Shops at Prudential Center, adding to the 15 stores the company has opened across the US since 2009.
