Public funds for research part of bill

The ghost of Facebook, Inc. was evident Monday when House Speaker Robert A. DeLeo unveiled a proposal to encourage the development of other young technology companies and innovative businesses to grow and stay in Massachusetts. DeLeo’s proposal included providing public funds for research and development projects at Massachusetts institutions, creating a mentoring network and making state government more user-friendly for companies needing permits and other assistance.
