Stein gains Senate’s OK for Fed board

Harvard economics professor Jeremy C. Stein taught a popular course on the financial crisis and served as an emergency advisor to US Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner during the financial crisis. Now, with JPMorgan’s multibillion dollar trading losses reviving memories of the crash, Stein will head to Washington as one of two new members of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. Stein and Jerome H. Powell, an investment banker and lawyer were nominated by President Barack Obama and confirmed by separate Senate votes on Thursday
