Lacrosse is creating a retail splash
As the sport takes hold, retailers are gaining customers
Lacrosse has caught the imagination of tens of thousands of youths, becoming the fastest growing team sport in the US, stealing players from local town baseball teams and attracting businesses seeking profits for specialized lacrosse gear, camps, clubs, and growing line of lacrosse apparel. It also has become the backdrop for a new social clique, proliferating on school campuses from junior high to the university level. To some, it provides a laudable sense of identity to young people motivated by athleticism and college aspirations. Others worry the identity focuses more on style than substance.
