Manulife Financial Corp. said it named Craig Bromley head of its US Division and president of John Hancock Financial Services in Boston, effective Sept. 1.

Bromley replaces Jim Boyle, who has worked for Toronto-based Manulife for 20 years and is retiring.

Bromley most recently has been running Manulife’s business in Japan. In 2004, he led Manulife’s acquisition of John Hancock Financial Services.
