New hostel provides more affordable lodging in Hub

Hostelling International Boston’s spacious new $46 million facility on Stuart Street, which celebrates its grand opening June 22, will help satisfy the growing demand for affordable accommodations in Boston. Of the slightly more than 18,000 hotel rooms in the city (not counting a handful of small hostels), less than 1 percent of them are considered budget accommodations, The new hostel, which has more than twice the number of beds as the old facility, charges $29-$59 a night for dorm rooms and has 20 private rooms that go for $89-$169 a night.
