As part of a $1.45 million partnership with the city, Vertex scientists will collaborate with Green Academy and other South Boston schools.
Vertex will open a student lab in 2014 at its new facility in Boston’s Seaport District.
Students, such as Kendry Diaz, will also have a chance at supplemental workshops and classes, summer internships, and a college scholarship.
Vertex officials hope the program will teach students how to apply scientific theories and that science can lead to rewarding careers.
