Investors and Wall Street are applauding the chip-equipment maker for naming Gary Dickerson its new president. Dickerson ran Varian Semiconductor Equipment Associates until Applied Materials bought it in November. Barclays calls Dickerson “a strategic thinker, data driven, decisive,” attributes “that should enable him to formulate a winning strategy and turn around the company.”
