Former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling fired back Friday at suggestions that his failed video game company put off Rhode Island auditors for days after 38 Studios LLC shuttered its operations in late May, while his wife lambasted Rhode Island’s governor, Lincoln Chafee, for his role in the company’s demise.
Curt Schilling, in his latest public comment about the collapse of his Providence start-up, posted a message on Facebook explaining that 38 Studios provided extensive information to the state and “didn’t stonewall anyone.”

This is the same arrogant Schilling who reported some say 30-40 pounds overweight in his last season AND DEMANDED A BIG RAISE. Interesting how Dennis and Callahan, who interviewed Schilling a number of times that spring, never, I believe crticized him for his condition and his chutspa for actually demanding a raise. These are the same two guys,Dennis and Cllahan, who, I believe, ripped Governor Patrick on numerous occasions for not giving in to an egocentric novice, with little or no experience in a very sophisticated and enourmously expensive business venture, thus saving the state of Massachusetts almost 100 million dollars that can be used to create lasting, not pie in the sky jobs.
I'm not sure that anybody cares about what this loser thinks. This "story" belongs buried in the back of the sports section. Perhaps somebody should encourage the Schillings to move on and get a life -- presumably one that does NOT require any business expertise on the part of Mr. or Mrs. Schilling.
This is capitalism - Shilling took his best shot at a high risk business venture and failed. RI should have gone into this with their eyes open and this was the risk they took. The current strory describes ordinary diligence by Shilling. By all accounts, he is a good family man and an honest person. I write this ad liberal democrat who has no affinity for his politics. Respectfully, the story here should be about RI using tax dollars on a venture that was by it's nature risky. Shilling did not deceive about the nature of his business. He sought financing for a high risk venture that failed. The most likely outcome occurred. He took the risk and lost a lot. That is our economic system. The question is why was RI playing that game? Leave the Shillings alone the are good citizens and good parents.
I wonder what Dennis and Callahan are thinking now that their favorite Red Sox pitcher has stiffed his employees and the people of Rhode Island (thank you Governor Patrick for not falling for Schilling's game)? They've been rather silent lately.
