Mass. job growth was 4 times greater than estimates

Massachusetts added nearly 40,000 jobs in 2011, four times the revised employment estimates reported earlier this year by federal officials, according to an analysis of newly released data by the University of Massachusetts.

The new data, a census of Massachusetts employers compiled by the US Labor Department, offers the most complete and reliable snapshot of the state’s labor markets. It showed that the state created jobs at about the same pace as the nation last year.

If I believed the political rhetoric our nation would have full employment several times over.

I'm so psyched by this article that I'm going to go in and ask for a raise at the sub shop that I now work for. Thanks Globe for making me feel good about my income. Just think, about three years ago I was making $26 an hour working at Ratheon. Now my future looks brighter. Smoke and mirrors boys smoke and mirrors, just vote straight "D" and it will get better. NOT!

This isn't a D vs. R issue, all public employees and politicians are guilty. / / Public employee benefits, at all levels of government, should be indexed to be no higher than the average non-public employee's, then if they want to see an increase, they'll need to make efforts to raise all boats, rather than just seeing to it that their own pockets are lined. Now that would be a Constitutional ammendment worth fighting for, rather than one trying to limit the rights of women or gays.

Oops, wrong article.

Terrible news for the foaming-at-the-mouth Republicans...they only want misery to rain down on the workers so they can attack Gov. Patrick...oh well, they'll just look for some other thing to criticize him about, it's all they know how to do.

@fadingas: Most companies hire only smart people to generate the kind of result they envision. First rule: learn to spell the name of the company correctly: Raytheon. Maybe the sub shop is a better fit for you. I had a great 2011. So did my new hires. Thanks, Gov. Patrick!

If this has any validity then it is good news. What's lacking is any semblance of details. Exactly what sectors and the names of a few companies would go a long way to making this article something a bit more believable. We live in a world of facts. Toss a few more over the fence to us so we can celebrate otherwise it's of little value.

"Exactly what sectors and the names of a few companies would go a long way to making this article something a bit more believable.
