As Red Sox struggle, restaurants thrive
It’s been a long season so far for the Red Sox and merchants around Fenway. Whether that’s good or bad depends on who you ask. Not that anyone’s crowing.
The 2012 Red Sox limped into the All-Star break with a .500 record, tied for last place in the American League East. But the Red Sox’s struggles this year are also creating winners and losers among the many business around Fenway Park. Some, such as hawkers of baseball jerseys and other Red Sox merchandise, are reporting declining sales, while restaurants and bars said more customers are spending less time in the park and more inside their venues because the games aren’t as exciting.
