‘‘Catastrophe activity in the US continues to impact industry results as well as our own,’’ said Frederick Eppinger, The Hanover’s chief executive. Financial results are due Aug 1.

Worcester-based Hanover Insurance Group and others are wrestling with natural disaster claims from the April-June quarter. Some have surprisingly large numbers, Dow Jones says. But Stifel Nicolaus analysts say the bigger news on Hanover is it is adding to its reserves — “a more sustainable challenge to THG’s earnings outlook than quarterly weather losses.”
