Netwatch USA moves to Watertown

Netwatch USA, a remote visual surveillance company, said that it has moved its office from temporary space in Medford to the Arsenal on the Charles office complex in Watertown.

With nine employees now, Netwatch USA said it plans to create 50 jobs over the next 12 months.

The company is the newly established US unit of Netwatch System, an Irish company specializing in intelligent video analytic technology.

Automotive and warehouse companies are potential users of this technology. When a client hires Netwatch USA, cameras are installed on the premises.

When the video technology detects a possible intruder, Netwatch personnel in an Irish monitoring facility are immediately notified. Netwatch staffers watching the video can then communicate in real-time to the intruder over loudspeakers: “Hey, you in the gray hoodie, we’ve alerted the authorities to your presence.”

In 97 percent of such cases, the intruder flees before a crime can be committed, Netwatch USA said.

Long-term plans call for the company to establish another monitoring center in the Boston area, Netwatch USA added.
