Public Radio International says it has been acquired by Boston media station WGBH.
Minneapolis-based PRI is the national content producer, network, and service provider for public radio. A statement put out by the two companies Thursday says they will ‘‘pursue a shared vision for developing and funding’’ content for public media.
It says PRI will continue to operate independently as a tax-exempt nonprofit in Minneapolis.
WGBH is known for producing such public television shows as ‘‘Nova’’ and ‘‘Frontline.’’
Financial details of the acquisition were not immediately available.
