Nuance Communications stock rises as profit climbs 90%

Nuance Communications’ quarterly earnings climbed 90 percent as the Burlington company’s voice-recognition software resonated among more customers plugging the technology into smartphones, autos, TVs, and medical devices. Nuance’s tools also help power the iPhone’s virtual assistant, Siri. Revenue was $431.7 million, a 31.3 percent increase from a year earlier. Net income was $79.3 million.
