The fragrance of Southern barbecue wafted through Terminal­ E at Logan International Airport on Tuesday as Southwest Airlines celebrated the launch of daily nonstop service between Boston and Nashville.

Nashville’s mayor, Karl Dean, joined his Boston counterpart, Mayor Thomas M. Menino, at the opening celebration.

Food from Neely’s Bar-b-que in Nashville was served.

The daily flight, which started earlier this week, is the only nonstop flight that is offered between the two cities.
