J.M. Smucker Co., the company that makes Folgers coffee and Jif peanut butter, reported fiscal first-quarter earnings, excluding some items, of $129.3 million, or $1.17 per share. That topped the average analyst estimate of $1 per share in a Bloomberg survey. That also compared with earnings of $128.2 million, or $1.12 per share, in the same period a year earlier.
