Molycorp stock rises as ore separation starts at rare-earth mine

The owner of the largest rare-earth deposit outside of China climbed the most in more than five months after ore separation began at its Mountain Pass mine in California. The mine’s production of concentrate with heavy rare earths, which fetch the highest prices, will rise to an annual rate of 200 tons in 2012 before doubling next year, chief executive Mark Smith said.
