It may be just rumor, but it apparently drove Bedford-based Acme Packet Inc.’s stock up Wednesday: Cisco Systems Inc. was said to be considering a bid for Acme Packet, Benzinga.com reported, citing unnamed sources, who added that the company has hired an adviser to handle potential bids. In February, rumors surfaced that Acme Pakcet was seeking $45-per-share bids from potential buyers. Acme Packet and Cisco were contacted by Benzinga but declined to comment. The stock closed up 10.4 percent on 2.5 times average volume.
