The Massachusetts housing market grew stronger in July with a nearly 27 percent increase in the sale of single-family homes, the biggest total for the month since the market last peaked in 2005. According to data released Wednesday by Warren Group, a Boston company that tracks real estate transactions, about 5,000 homes were sold statewide in July, spurred by increased confidence in the local housing market and continued low interest rates. Condominium sales also rose sharply to 1,994, a 34 percent increase.
