Ciena stock tumbles as losses widen

The maker of communications network equipment tumbled the most in more than a year after reporting a wider-than-projected quarterly loss of 4 cents a share and forecasting lower revenue than expected in the next quarter. The economy is taking a toll, and Ciena has been slow to book revenue on new products, CEO Gary Smith said. Ciena’s biggest customers are phone companies.
