Upscale Belmont has become a hub for women business owners
Belmont, the upscale Boston suburb known these days mostly as Mitt Romney’s hometown, has become a hot spot for women entrepreneurs. Along one block of Leonard Street alone there are 14 businesses run by women. Several have opened within the last year and a half. The Belmont trend, while largely anecdotal, is buttressed by national statistics. There are now about 8.3 million businesses owned by women in the United States, according to a recent study.
