Romney won’t release names of donation bundlers

Campaign declines to make the names public

Some of Mitt Romney’s largest Massachusetts financial backers are well known. His former partners at Bain Capital have given more than $3.3 million. New Balance chairman Jim Davis gave $500,000, and retired Reebok International chief Paul Fireman has contributed $250,000.

Their support is public because they have given money to a Romney super PAC, which is required under federal law to disclose the gifts it receives. But there is a whole other swath of influential Romney supporters whose names voters can only guess at, because the campaign refuses to reveal them.

Hold on honestman. If Obama gets re-elected Hezbollah might well be voting in '2012!

I don't think it's unreasonable to want to know who has paid for Romney's services, and what he intends to do for his largest clients, er, donors. Mitt Romney has become The New Nixon - endlessly secretive and angry.

Replies

You mean like the Kesslers Foundation that bundel for Pres. Obama and he gave them a pay back with Solyndra and now lets talk about the payback to the unions that donated $400 million in 2008...payback was GM (the shareholders got the shaft) along with the taxpayers for $24 billion dollars.

If you write the word, "stupid" in a comment the editors delete you.  So, there you have it.  What other word describes this aarticle?  Do they ask where the Democrat's secret funds come from? NO!  The world is in eruptive disorder financially and  the Muslim world is in flames and this is a headliner for this newspaper.  I do not get it.

Replies

Please read the article before commenting next time. The entire point is that we don't have to ask who is funding Obama's campaign because they aren't hiding the fact.

YOu don't get it because your a republiban.

Next we'll have to tell the state who we voted for after leaving the booth. This is old news NPR did the same story over a month ago. Come on Globe the world is burning and your in Obama's pocket.

Looks like a separation between Smart people and Rock Stars and who gets the dollars.

Campaign finance reform, anyone?

Replies

Obama agreed (2008 campaign) to Campaign finance reform - before - he disagreed to it. The Democrats label this flip-flopping, but, never use the label against one of their own.

Big money donors to conservative causes and candidates often take significant measures to remain anonymous. What are they afraid of?

Romney won't show us his income tax returns and now this!  What is he hiding?

Replies

If you  could spell Republican, you would understand that it is Mr. Obama who is hiding.  It is not conspiracy theory to ask simple questions that are closed books on his background.

It's conspiracy theory when those "simple questions" are based on the assumption the President is an Indonesian citizen.

So what, nobody cares. Why doesn't the Globe focus on a REAL story like why does the U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., Ms. Rice still claim that the security was beefed up in Libya prior to the attack. Does having two former Seals stationed there constitute beefing up security? Maybe if Obama had attended a meeting of his intellegigent briefers once in a while he would have known what was happening. He hasn't attended one since April. Sleeping at the switch appears to be the real answer.

Replies

Apparently he's just not "intellegigent" enough.

Hey honestman. If only a simple spelling mistake could correct the mess that Obama has put this country in we would be in good shape.

WELL-WELL -WELL:  STRANGELY - In 2008 the Globe did not find Obama's "bundlers" worthy of front page coverage. Few people had ever heard of "bundlers' until the Obama presidential campaign, and the news only surfaced very late in the campaign. Probably due to Obama's lies that his campaign was being financed by very small donations of less than $100. Obama was being Obama - twisting the truth - but still not front page news worthy to the GLOBE.

Readers quickly realized the concept of "bundlers" is similar to UNIONS using their membership fees, since the inception of unions, to fund union-friendly Democrat candidates. However, the Globe didn't find the UNION campaign donations (?) news-worthy, and the public took it for granted that this is what UNIONS do although membership who paid mandatory fees were incensed that their money was paying for candidates with opposing views. There lies the difference.

Replies

If you'd read the article, you'd know that Obama has always released the names of his bundlers.  Of course, that would kill your entire premise...

Romney won't release list of donors>>>>Obama won't release his official travel records, school records and of course how his education was paid for and by whom..

Replies

Well, at least we DO know that he didn't borrow the money from his parents, like R-Money did, and like he suggests most young Americans do.

I love the birthers.  If I follow the "logic" correctly, the accusation is that since Obama is a foreign national, he wasn't elgible for financial aid.  WhaCKY.

There is a good reason not to release the names.  Obama, Jarrett and Axelrod use the rough tactics of Chicago politics.  Romney donors have to fear IRS audits, OSHA inspections and other tools of political intimidation.

Replies

So you're saying Romney donors are comitting tax faud?  Interesting...

You have reading comprehension problems.  What I said was that Obama might use the threat of tax audits to intimidate Romney donors even if the audits were groundless.

Liars like Willard like to keep things secret, "in quiet rooms", as he puts it, behind closed doors.

So why did Pres. Obama spend almost a million dollars to seal his school & college records and passports, who has something to hide...and big time it is the president....

Well, old bean, I've only ever seen that accusation made by partisan posters such as yourself. Care to provide proof of your allegation? Otherwise you are either making it up or repeating something that someone else has made up.

JLErwin: go google Pres. Obama's school records....you can't get them....no record of what he wrote for the Harvard review....but in 2008 they went after Sarah Palins college records and even George Bush's, but they found out he had better grades at Yale then John Kerry and even that Ted Kennedy was kicked out of Harvardf for cheating on a test.....so they do look into records, but no information can be found of the presidents...

Replies

I don't need to look up squat. You've made a claim, now prove it. I don't subscribe to the Harvard Review, and I'm not about to just to look up articles by President Obama. If googling 'Obama school records' is at all similar to googling anything else 'obama' it will mean pages of websites with 'I hate Obama' as the theme. If his school records are that important, keep going to court. If you are trying to draw equivalence between school records and tax returns or political donations then my estimation of your intelligence just dropped. For the record, Romney is not, in my estimation, under any obligation to release either his tax returns or the list of his donors. It adversely affects his credibility in my eyes, but that doesn't make it a legal requirement. I'm already not impressed with Obama's campaign style, but what Romney is doing is to make himself look like the worse of two evils.

Fuck this donkey nozzle
