Groundbreaking held for apartment building near Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway

Boston city officials joined developers to mark the groundbreaking of a 26-story residential building with 240 apartments on the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway, the Boston Redevelopment Authority said Friday.

The $130 million project is located at 120 Kingston St.

Among those attending the ceremonies were BRA director Peter Meade and executives for the project’s developers, Forest City Residential and Hudson Group North America, the BRA said.

As part of the project, the developers are deeding land to the Chinese Economic Development Council for the creation of new affordable housing units in Chinatown, the BRA said.

By Meade’s count, there are more than 3,300 units of housing under construction within city limits.
