Survey: Checking fees rise across the board

Survey results

 Average ATM noncustomers charge rose 4 percent to $2.50.

 Average amount banks charge own customers for using another company’s ATM jumped 11 percent to $1.57.

 Average total of $4.07 for a customer encountering both fees is up 7 percent.

 Average monthly fee on noninterest accounts is up 25 percent to $5.48.

 Average balance requirement to avoid the fee is $723, up 23 percent.

 Overdraft fees rose 1.4 percent from last year to an average of $31.26.
