Axcelis Technologies Inc., a Beverly company that provides products and services for the semiconductor industry, said Tuesday that it has signed a five-year support contract valued at $30 million.
The company’s press release identified the other party in the contract only as “one of the world’s leading semiconductor manufacturers.”
In a statement, Eric Paulik, an Axcelis vice president, said: “Axcelis provides a flexible, customized solution focused on minimizing equipment support costs while achieving the highest levels of productivity on the manufacturing floor, allowing the customer to concentrate on their core competency - making leading edge semiconductors. This program is part of a growing industry trend to outsource management of manufacturing equipment, as customers strive to meet the demands of next generation chip production.”
