Local theater goers may soon be able to enjoy upscale pizza and chicken parm spring rolls --- along with the latest Clint Eastwood movie --- under a plan that calls for a Davio’s Cucina restaurant to share space with a Showcase Cinemas theater now under construction in Chestnut Hill.
In a press release Tuesday, Showcase Cinemas, part of National Amusements Inc., and Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse envisioned a state-of-the-art theater complex with fine-dining options; the complex will occupy 40,000 square feet of space that was once home to a Macy’s department store at the Chestnut Hill Shopping Center. The new luxury theater complex will feature six screens, and it is scheduled to open in early next spring.
Davio’s Cucina is described as a standalone restaurant with a full bar and lounge in the lobby with a specially priced menu, Showcase Cinemas and Davio’s said in their release.
Theater goers will be able to place orders from their theater seats for select items from the Davio’s Cucina menu, Showcase said.
According to its website, Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse has four locations --- Boston, Foxborough, Philadelphia, and Atlanta.
Showcase is a brand of National Amusements, a Norwood-based company that operates more than 950 movie screens in the United States, Great Britain, and Latin America. National Amusements is also an equal partner in the online ticketing service MovieTickets.com and is the parent company of both Viacom and CBS Corp.
