Frye steps onto Newbury Street with its 2d US store

Frye Co., a popular boot and shoe maker, plans to open a three-story flagship store on Newbury Street next spring. It will take over the space formerly occupied by Charley’s restaurant, which closed Sunday after being unable to negotiate a new lease with the building’s owner.

Frye’s will occupy 11,000 square feet at a prime location on the corner of Newbury and Gloucester streets. The new store, Frye’s second US location, will feature the brand’s leather footwear and handbags, along with a lounge for special events and vintage trunk shows. It also will provide private fit specialists and services to personalize customers’ boots.
