Showcase Live opened at Patriot Place in 2008. It was not clear Monday why it will no longer book music acts.

A venue for live music near Gillette Stadium in Foxborough is being transformed into a space for special events and meetings, according to National Amusements Inc., the company that operates it. Showcase Live opened at the Patriot Place retail complex in 2008 and has hosted artists from Al Green to Hanson to BLACKstreet to Akon.

“We are working to find employment opportunities within our organization for any employees affected by this policy change,” National Amusements said in a statement. The company did not respond to a message seeking information about why Showcase Live will no longer book musical acts, or when the changes take effect.

Debbie Blanchard, who manages musician Ronnie Earl, said she received an e-mail seeking to reschedule Earl’s Showcase Live appearance scheduled for Jan. 5.

“We have had a great experience with Showcase Live and the staff and are always sorry to hear about a venue closing,” Blanchard said.
