NxStage Medical officially opens new headquarters in Lawrence

NxStage Medical Inc., a manufacturer of dialysis products, officially opened its new headquarters in Lawrence Monday morning.

The new 137,000-square-foot facility replaces the company’s previous 58,000 square foot Lawrence facility. The new headquarters houses NxStage’s corporate offices, which include over 300 employees within the research and development, sales and marketing, customer and technical support departments, among other functions. The new headquarters is large enough to accommodate future growth.

The Massachusetts Life Sciences Center, the agency charged with implementing Governor Deval Patrick’s 10-year, $1 billion Life Sciences Initiative, awarded about $1.3 million in tax incentives to NxStage Medical in 2010 to encourage the company’s growth in Massachusetts.

Patrick attended the event.

“Thanks to our growth strategy of investing in education, innovation, and infrastructure, Massachusetts continues to lead the world in life sciences,” Patrick said in a statement. “I congratulate NxStage on this significant achievement and for reaffirming its commitment to Massachusetts.”
