Infraredx, Royal Philips will collaborate on cardiovascular imaging systems

Infraredx Inc. and Royal Philips Electronics said in a Tuesday press release that they will collaborate on integrated imaging systems that can better evaluate the extent of cardiovascular disease.

Headquartered in Burlington, Infraredx is a privately-funded medical device company that has developed the TVC Imaging System --- TVC stands for “true vessel characterization.” According to Infraredx, the TVC Imaging System has the potential to change the way coronary artery disease is diagnosed and treated.

Royal Philips Electronics has a presence in Andover. One of its areas of expertise is X-ray imaging technology designed for interventional cardiologists.

As part of their alliance, Infraredx and Royal Philips plan to integrate Infraredx’s TVC system with Allura Xper catheterization lab imaging systems made by Philips.
