Wrentham debates end to ‘Midnight Madness’ at mall

Wrentham officials are debating whether to turn the lights out on “Midnight Madness” — the frenzied day-after-Thanksgiving all-night shopping extravaganza at the Wrentham Village Premium Outlets.

Planning Board members will meet Wednesday night to discuss whether to revoke the mall’s permission to open early on Black Friday, the traditional start of the Christmas shopping season.

I just got back from Boca Raton where the Town Center Mall, a Simon property, is loaded with cameras.

Job-killing right in Senator Brown's hometown?

Idiocy. Cameras might allow an arrest or two for shoplifting, but they wouldn't stop a serious crime, such as a mass murderer. Terrorism is a political act and I find it hard to believe any terrorist would attack a mall in Wrentham of all places. The police chief sounds a bit incompetent, with an outlandish imagination.

As for paying for the cameras, it's worth noting that outlet stores have a very thin margin.

The object of terrorism is to make people fearful. I guess they've been successful with mhc90 and the Wrentham police chief.

"A potential soft target for terrorists?" Are you kidding me? If this is how the Chief of Police thinks, one really has to question his ability to prioritize. And No, a mentally ill young man with access to guns and ammo is not a terrorist, and is not going to be deterred by surveillance cameras.

What do you want to bet the fire chief will use this as a bargaining chip for more equipment tonight?
